With the warm hold of music around all of us, let me introduce myself and tell you a little about my style. I have been expanding my musical tastes as far as possible over the past few years, experiencing as many live performances as possible in the short time I’ve been free to move about the states in search of talent. In only a matter of years I have gained a much deeper expertise in the fields of jam rock, ska, punk, jazz, and to a lesser extent classical, blues and folk. Those who know me will expect to see me in the middle of any good skank pits in the Carolina’s ska scene, enjoying the togetherness brought about by the music. I’ve played several instruments, primarily the saxophone and clarinet families for years, which I feel has greatly expanded the way I listen to and enjoy music. As I age, my musical tastes are becoming much more expansive, recently due largely to the diverse tastes found in the Manifest staff. I moved to Columbia, SC as a student at the charming University of South Carolina, and couldn’t see myself anywhere else. Outside of music, my interests lie primarily in cycling and enjoying the company of close friends. These are all reasons leading to my stay with the Manifest community, and so far, so good.
My top albums of last year (2007) would have to be as follows:
1. Incubus – “Light Grenades”
2. Streetlight Manifesto – “Somewhere in the Between”
3. Between the Buried and Me – “Colours”
4. Coheed & Cambria – “No World for Tomorrow”
5. The White Stripes – “Icky Thump”
Though they may not have albums on my top 5 of last year, some of my other all-time favorite artists include Dave Matthews Band, O.A.R., Weezer, The Planet Smashers, Suburban Legends, The Hush Sound, Ben Harper and Coldplay.
And now for the one question everyone looks forward to: What song would I walk out to the ring to if I was a wrestler?
Well, my friends that is a simple question to answer: “Big Poppa” by the Notorious B.I.G.
I hope we are much closer because of this short biography, and I would like to thank WAB! for his persistent encouragement to complete this form.
Hope to see you all at Manifest in Columbia!
